You get what you focus on

People only see what they are prepared to see.” - Ralph Waldo Emerson

What can you see from the above picture? Is it columns or people?

According to Leonardo da Vinci, there are three classes of people:
  1. Those who see.
  2. Those who see when they are shown.
  3. Those who do not see.
We are limited, not by our abilities, but by our vision. How you feel about things - and even the meaning you attach to a particular experience - is all dependent upon your focus.

"The trick is in what one emphasizes. We either make ourselves miserable, or we make ourselves happy. The amount of work is the same." - Carlos Castaneda

"Focus is the ultimate power that can change the way we think, the way we feel, and what we do in any moment." - Anthony Robbins

"Whether you are stressed or fulfilled has little to do with what you're actually doing, or even the results you are producing. If you're stressed, it's a result of where you are putting your focus." - Anthony Robbins

Believe it or not, no matter what you focus on, good or bad, it all will eventually come true. You get what you focus on.

Hi Sam,
Great post. It is the law of attraction. I myself have to remember to focus back to the positive when I "seem" to be having a troublesome day. It works. :o)

Mind has power over our lives. And Tony Robbins has some great things to say about mind and emotions, for example in his book: "Awaken the Giant Within" There is a saying, though, that the "circumstances are stronger than the will". Our environment, in the broadest sense (social, political, physical, etc.) plays a huge role too. Check this out: healthy environments

Hi WellnessAid,

Thanks for sharing your words of wisdom. You are right! Our environment do play a role too. Let's do our part if can contribute to a better environment.

Anyway, our attitude determine how we look at the world.

"Attitude is the way you mentally look at the world around you. It is how you view your environment and your future. It is the focus you develop toward life itself."

Perhaps there are people who refused to see or pretend to be blinds. I am not is it somewhat they're scared of? But there are people who are willing and accept be it good or bad.

I can be both, hehehe.

Have a good day Sam!

Sam, the picture is good. I guess I only saw 1. Your post is the perfect response to Trin's post, I told her she had to read your post. It is excellent, really is...

We get what we focus on. When there are bad things, it is becoz God put them there to help us, so we should thank God for it. After all, God gives us problem to help us, not to kill us. So why grumble when we are getting help? Anyway, as Trin aptly put, we are already so blessed in many other areas, so why complain about one nitty gritty fault? :-)

Love your post. absolutely.

Focus..that's a powerful word! Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is pure, whatever is right, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable-if anything is excellent or praiseworthy-think about such things.
