What the Bible Says about Wisdom

Let's check from the New King James Version (NKJV) Bible:

Psalms 111:10 The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom;
A good understanding have all those who do His commandments.
His praise endures forever.

Proverbs 1:7 The fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge,
But fools despise wisdom and instruction.

Proverbs 9:10 The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom,
And the knowledge of the Holy One is understanding.

Proverbs 15:33 The fear of the LORD is the instruction of wisdom,
And before honor is humility

Indeed, "The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom."

fear of the lord is not the beginning of wisdom.as history shows you can still fear the lord and be unwise enough to hate your neighbour and burn him at the stake and you can still fear the lordand be practising wisdom for a lifetime and hate your neighbour and not kill or injure him. what then is the beginning of wisdom ? answer : tolerance and toleration is the beginning of wisdom and toleration springs from humility.

Hi Anonymous,

Thanks for sharing your comments.

I am sorry for a very late reply. Well, I really hesitated to reply to your comment because I really don't want to be thought as the wise man.

King Solomon - suppose to be the wisest and most wealthy man on earth failed miserably after having been succumbed to temptation. Well, he wrote "Proverbs 1:7 The fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge,
But fools despise wisdom and instruction."

Wisdom comes when one apply the knowledge gain in the right way.

May we learn to acquire the wisdom from above.

Best Regards
