The Secret to Happiness

“It isn't what you have, or who you are, or where you are, or what you are doing that makes you happy or unhappy. It is what you think about.” - Dale Carnegie

"The Grand essentials of happiness are: something to do, something to love, and something to hope for." - Allan K. Chalmers

Many people spend a lifetime searching for happiness. The irony is the only place they ever needed to search was within. You can only bring happiness to yourself. Nothing else will.

Being happy doesn't mean that everything is perfect. Happiness doesn't come as a result of getting something we don't have, but rather of recognizing and appreciating what we do have. It is not the absence of problems but the ability to deal with them.

Happiness comes whenever our work and words are beneficial to ourselves and others. May we always bring forth happiness to others wherever we go.

Do you have the secret to Happiness?

I love the picture you choose!

Happiness for me, is to accomplish God's mission in my life. I can be someone according to the Master's plan, and I can nurture my family in His path as well... the rest will be God's provision.

Hi Sam..wow,so many people are seeking happiness..but its difficult to come by.This definition you have given is great..and it reminds me that happiness is not a state of ongoing bliss, but rather being able to deal with whatever happens in a balanced way.I agree happiness is what you think about...being negative is sure to bring more negativity. And having beneificial thoughts and words for others will take us a step further to that inner peace we all need.Hope your week is going to be happy,Sam :)

Hi Jesse,

I am glad you like the definition of happiness here. If there is no suffering, struggle or hard work, one will not really understand and appreciate happiness. It is just like without darkness, one would not appreciate brightness.

Have a great day and be happy always.

Blessings to you Jesse.

Another thought provoking post. Thanks for sharing it.The following words are the ultimate truth about being happy:
...'Being happy doesn't mean that everything is perfect. Happiness doesn't come as a result of getting something we don't have, but rather of recognizing and appreciating what we do have. It is not the absence of problems but the ability to deal with them...'

Hi Sam..

"Many people spend a lifetime searching for happiness. The irony is the only place they ever needed to search was within."

I think that sums it up beautifully. Too many people are seeking external stimuli to "make them" happy when really happiness has been with them all along.

They simply chose not to see it!

Hi Enigma,

Thanks for sharing your secret of happiness. You are right.. one got to be contented and grateful to be happy. According to the Bible in 1Ti 6:6 - ".. godliness with contentment is great gain." We are indeed so blessed.

Let's remember to be thankful and grateful at all times.

Blessings to you Enigma.

Sam,
Found you from Finding Life's Enchantments. We have one thing in common, we are in Titania's treasure list. I thought I would check out her treasures and I find she has impeccable tastes!

I am a huge quote person, have them hanging all over my houes and use them as filler in a newsletter I do. Words are powerful and truly can inspire.

Thanks for telling me that I am in Titania's treasure list. I really appreciate that. Will check it out after this.

Glad to know that you are also a fan of quotes. I agree with you that Words are powerful and truly can inspire. May we benefit from all good quotes that we had collected.

Once again, thanks for your visit and comments.

Best Wishes

Hi Blogberry MOM,

Thanks for your compliment.

I believe the golden rule that can indeed help us to win friends and influence them comes from Jesus saying in Matthew 7:12 - "Therefore, whatever you want men to do to you, do also to them, for this is the Law and the Prophets."

May you acquire all the necessary knowledge to win friends and influence people.

Best Wishes

Hi Sam,

Great quote from Carnegie. I talk about his great secret for success here: http://tinyurl.com/5a7yhu

But my "secrets" for happiness here:http://tinyurl.com/6cgoyr

Funny how the word 'secret' has been twisted really ... these days it kind of means "the piece of information I am telling as many people as will listen!"

:-)
