Say no to violence!

There is indeed so much of violence in our societies these days.

According to Mahatma Gandhi - “The Roots of Violence: Wealth without work, Pleasure without conscience, Knowledge without character, Commerce without morality, Science without humanity, Worship without sacrifice, Politics without principles”

“The main goal of the future is to stop violence. The world is addicted to it.” - Bill Cosby

“War will disappear only when men shall take no part whatever in violence and shall be ready to suffer every persecution that their abstention will bring them. It is the only way to abolish war.” - Anatole France

The bible tells us in Matthew 26:52 (NKJV) that one should not resolve to violence:

"But Jesus said to him, "Put your sword in its place, for all who take the sword will perish by the sword."

Violence is not the way to make matters rest. It makes matters worse!

What do you think? Do you have any idea how to stop violence?

Hi Sam,

GREAT post!

I think the way to stop violence is to bring peace. In other words, we don't fight, which is violent but we remove the darkenss with light.

It starts with each of us, holding non-violence in our hearts, deciding we will find another way!

Thank you for this... I bring my thoughts to peace!

Hi Jennifer,

Yes I agree with you that by bringing peace we might be able to stop violence. It takes two hands to clap. Thus, if everybody ignore and do not retaliate it will definitely helps to stop violence.

Thanks for your valuable comments.

Hi Surjit,

I totally agree with you that we have to inculcate in ourselves a sense of oneness amongst all fellow human beings and practice "Hurt not others in ways that you would find hurtful".

That's a great quote!

Let's treat one another like brothers or sisters.

Thanks Surjit... for your kind support and encouragement! It means a lot!
