Be Polite To All

A good father advice to his son

"My boy," said a father to his son, "treat everybody with politeness, even those who are rude to you; remember, you show courtesy to others, not because they are gentlemen, but because you are one."

"Be polite and everyone will be polite to you."

Many will agree that the young must be taught about good manners and then somewhere along the line, we forgot that it is applicable to us as well. There is indeed a decline of politeness in our modern society. Do you agree?

"Parents are usually more careful to bestow knowledge on their children rather than virtue, the art of speaking well rather than doing well; but their manners should be of the greatest concern." - Fuller, R. Buckminster

"Manners are a sensitive awareness of the feelings of others. If you have that awareness, you have good manners, no matter which fork you use." - Emily Post

"Whoever one is, and wherever one is, one is always in the wrong if one is rude." - Maurice Baring

“Anyone can be polite to a king. It takes a gentleman to be polite to a beggar.”

Be gentle and not harsh at all times. Say "please", “thank you” and “excuse me” more. Be the first to say "Sorry". Put these into practice, and all will be charmed with your manners. Try it!

I love this post so much Sam!

I think the world would be a different place if we did nothing else but be polite!

It is such an easy thing to do and yet so very much neglected!

Thanks for this reminder!

Hugs,

Nice post again. I agreed we must be polite to all human beings irrespective of age, color, creed, race, origin, rank, rich, poor and so on.

We have to teach our children and practice it at home and same time practice what we preach to others. It is easier said than done and not many are able to do that. :)

Awesome words and so true ! :)

A really meaningful post,Sam...full of the importance of Good Manners. Its seems that many kids these days think that the ruder they are the cooler they seem in front of their friends. We as parents need to be ever watchful that they develop good manners. Its something they will carry for the whole of their life and a really neccessary thing.No-one likes a rude person, except maybe another rude person. This post reminds me that I need to always be well mannered, no matter who I am talking to.Something to strive for..Thank you ! :)

Hi Lili,

That's right! Politeness is a great virtue! Let's learn to be gentle at all times so that even those rude people that we met got influenced by our manners.

Best Wishes

Hi Sam,

Thanks for adding your insightful views. Indeed we have to practice what we teach. Otherwise even our children won't want to listen and obey.

Let's be polite irrespective of whoever and whenever!

Many Blessings to you Sam!

Hi Jesse,

It is really sad that some kids think that it is cool to be rude nowadays. Well, maybe they got the bad influences from violence TV shows or movies.

Let's be a good parent showing good examples so that our children will want to imitate and develop good manners too.

Blessings to you and yours
