Don't get discouraged or depressed

"It's not what you look at that matters, it's what you see." - Henry David Thoreau

“How you look at a situation is very important, for how you think about a problem may defeat you before you ever do anything about it.

When you get discouraged or depressed, try changing your attitude from negative to positive and see how life can change for you. Remember, your attitude toward a situation can help you to change it -- you create the very atmosphere for defeat or victory.” - Franco Harris

“The hardest thing you can do is smile when you are ill, in pain, or depressed. But this no-cost remedy is a necessary first half-step if you are to start on the road to recovery.” - Allen Klein

"Pain is no evil unless it conquers us." - George Eliot

"It’s not what happens to you, but how you react to it that matters." - Epictetus

"Don't go through life, grow through life." - Eric Butterworth

To deal with depression, help yourselves by understanding what depression is and know what it takes to beat it. Seek help from your family and friends. Then start living a happier and healthier life now.

This quote made me smile. As I am recovering from this flu thing, I try to turn on the funny cartoons or comedy when I can. It makes me laugh, and laughing helps tremendously in recovery!

Great post. I esepcially enjoyed the positive quotes.

I find that if I watch what my brain ingests I am a much more positive person. We don't realize that our brains are sponges. We are surrounded by so much negatvity. We cannot control others of course, but much of the stimulus around us we can. I for one do not watch the news. What we read, the music we listen, even what we eat affects how we perceive the world.

You have a lovely blog that radiates goodness.

The main reason why depression occurs is victims continuous think negatively as a result negative energy being generated. The victims will feel sad, depress, confuse and hopeless. If at this time no one cares about them, they might commit suicide or harm others. The main cure to depression is not medication but to think positively and be surrounded by people with positive thinking.

Hi Titania,

Many thanks for adding your insightful thoughts to my post.

Indeed, we have to watch the input. Whatever we take in to our mind do affect us tremendously. In the past, I also do not watch the news and I agree that there are much more negative than positive news. I remember trying to start another blog calling it inspiring-news but I hardly find inspiring news thus I abandoned the idea.

God bless.

Hi Honman,

You are right! If we keep focusing on the negative we will get negative results and our good energy will be sapped off. Whenever such happen, remember to get out of the negative and be surrounded by positive people and pray for help.

Many thanks for adding your insightful thoughts to my post. I really appreciate your contribution.

Many Blessings.

Hi Sam!

How true and important to be able to smile at times of adversity! Coincidentally Surjit's topic for the day is similar to yours. What I have just updated in my humble blog is somewhat of the same genre as well.

Blessings!
