Focus to get the result

What you consistently focus on in your life, you will achieve.

The most powerful way to direct your focus is through the questions you ask.

It is by questioning our limitations that our greatest strengths are unveiled.

Developing your plan for your life is nothing more than the process of asking and answering some specific questions

  • What it is that I want from my life?
  • What life's about?
  • Who I am committed to becoming in the process?

Improve Yourself and Be useful

Do you want a better job? Do a better job.

If you're not enthusiastic about your job, you're in the wrong job. If at all possible change it.

Too many people quit looking for work when they find a job.

Never allow two people to do a job which only one can do.

If two men on the same job agree all the time, then one is useless. If they disagree all the time, then both are useless.

Thinking is hard work

When Albert Schweitzer was asked what's wrong with the world, he replied: "They don't think enough." Thinking is the highest faculty of the human mind -- the key to all progress.

History shows in every soil, that those who think rule those who toil.

"Our greatest need is to teach people how to think -- not what, but HOW." - Edison

Many people read a lot because reading is easier than thinking. Thinking is hard work.

Use Your Head

A great improvement can be achieved as long as we spend some time to improve our mental skills and building our mind.

The more you use your brain, the more you have. Using it, wakes up idle brain cells. Below is Sudoku game which makes us use more of our head.

Death is inevitable

My children's little cute hamster passed away peacefully in her sleep on January 28, 2007.

The Bible tells us in Hebrews 9:27
"And as it is appointed for men to die once, but after this the judgment"

"Death is well understood, it's life that isn't." - Tony Follari Comedian

Real life usually doesn't begin until we realize how soon it will end.

When you were born, you cried and the world rejoiced.
Live your life in a manner so that when you die the world cries and you rejoice.

You learn when you teach

Knowledge increases in proportion to its use - that is, the more we teach the more we learn.

Resolve to observe or learn something new every day. It'll keep you mentally sharp and youthful. The genuine beauty of acquiring knowledge is that you can learn anytime.

Learning something new requires making mistakes. It involves trial and error. So do not be afraid to make mistakes. Learn like children do. Learn all you can from old people. They've gone over the road you must travel.

"Learn as if you were going to live forever. Live as if you were going to die tomorrow." - Mahatma Gandhi

Don't wait for the perfect time

Now is the best time to start anything. If you wait for the perfect time, you'll starve waiting.

The right man is the one who seizes the moment.

Short as life is, we make it shorter by wasting time.

The clock of life is wound but once, and no one has the power, to tell just when its hands will stop, at late or early hour. So do today that noble deed, pursue it with a will. Delay not till tomorrow, your hands may then be still.

Goal Setting and Will Power

Thirty minutes a day aimed at one thing can convert a nobody into a somebody.

The college degree is no longer the Golden Key to success. The Golden Key is always was, and always will be: Goal Setting and Will Power - doing what should be done, when it should be done, whether we feel like it or not.

To be sure of hitting the target, shoot first, and call whatever you hit the target.

If you want to be happy for a day, have a party; if for a week, take a trip; if for a year, plant a garden; if for life, find a worthy goal.

The quality of your life depends on your goals.

A successful marriage

A successful marriage requires falling in love many times, but always with the same person.

One word above all others that makes marriage a success is "ours".

"The goal in marriage is not to think alike, but to think together" - Robert C. Dodds

The Bible tells us in
Colossians 3:18-19:
Wives, submit to your own husbands, as is fitting in the Lord.
Husbands, love your wives and do not be bitter toward them.

Forgives one another

A little explained, a little endured, a little forgiven, and the quarrel is cured.

Overcoming the enemy by power is half a victory, whereas overcoming the enemy by love is a complete victory. Love your enemies. From them you learn your faults.

The Bible teaches us that:
"For if you forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you." - Matthew 6:14

But love your enemies, do good, and lend, hoping for nothing in return; and your reward will be great, and you will be sons of the Most High. For He is kind to the unthankful and evil. Therefore be merciful, just as your Father also is merciful. "Judge not, and you shall not be judged. Condemn not, and you shall not be condemned. Forgive, and you will be forgiven. - Luke 6:35-37

Control your thoughts

Our mind is a "Thoughts Factory". It can produce either positive or negative thoughts. Ideas of others are our raw materials.

Our thoughts control our life. But we control our thoughts. We are free to think success thoughts - positive thoughts or failure - negative thoughts.

Positive thinking and a positive mental attitude are about the same as keeping our highest moment permanent.

There is a limit to the intensity of any resolution. There is also a limit as to how long it will last. But, fortunately, there is no limit to how often we can renew it. Auto Suggestion - talking to ourselves is one of the most effective of all methods in keeping our highest moments permanent.

Be Decisive

You don't have to wait for permission to do the right thing. Be decisive. Take the initiative. Get the facts. Do it now.

Indecision is often worse than wrong action. Indecision is fatal. It is better to make a wrong decision than build up a habit of indecision. Indecision breeds doubt. We never feel safe with a leader not sure of himself.

The most common source of mistakes in management decisions is the emphasis on finding the right answer rather than the right question.

Continuous Learning is a must

"Books and schools give us knowledge. Wise sayings give us wisdom - tell us how to use knowledge - tell us how to live." - Sidney Smith

Today, information and technology change constantly. To be ahead of the competition, we must develop the ability to absorb, process and apply information very fast. We must constantly learn, unlearn and relearn to be number one.

However, it is impossible for a man to learn what he thinks he already knows.

Belief System

"Whether you believe you can do something or you believe you can't, you're right." - Anthony Robbins

Strong belief generates the "can do". The "can do" generates the "how to".

If you think you are beaten, you are;
If you like to win, but you think you can't, it's almost certain you won't.
If you think you'll lose, you're lost, for out in the world you'll find, Success begins with a person's thoughts, it's all in the state of the mind.

Think that you can, and you surely will, it's all in the state of the mind.

Life's prizes don't always go to the stronger or faster man; But sooner or later, the man who wins, is the man who thinks he can.

Working Attitude

The richest reward from our work is not what we get out of it in wages, but what we become through it.

At the start of our career, what we learn is more important than what we earn. The best preparation for tomorrow is to do today's work supremely well.

One overlooked success technique: doing things in the order of their importance.

Value of Money

If you want to know the value of money, try borrowing some.

A man with money controls circumstances; without money, they control him.
Money is the seed of money. The second million comes easier than the first fifty thousand.

Acting rich keeps people poor. Many people could live on what they waste.

The darkest day in our lives is when we plan to get money without working.

Effective Learning

Learning how to learn is life's most important skill.

Those who don't read good books have no advantage over those who can't.

It is true that we learn by listening, yet we don't listen. All experiences are opportunities for us to learn and grow. We learn more when we teach.

When we acquire knowledge only intellectually, we will never learn. We can learn only by doing. Learn from the past to improve the future. It is better to learn from the experience of others.

Don't Worry Be Happy

Worry often gives a small thing a big shadow.

Don't worry over what other people are thinking about you. They're too busy worrying over what you are thinking about them. According to all surveys and statistics, your greatest worry won't happen.

Happiness is easy - dwell on things that make you glad; expel all thoughts that make you sad. Happiness has little to do with what we have; everything with what we think.

I'd rather not to speak

It ain't what you say, it's the way that you say it - that's what get results. Mouth is 10%; eyes is 20%; head is 30% and heart is 40%!

Sharp dagger only wounds the flesh, but a sharp tongue can wound the spirit.

A slip of the foot, you'll soon recover; a slip of the tongue may last forever.

How many of us have realized that since we were given two ears and one mouth it might be that we were intended to listen twice as much as we speak.

We all can get into trouble if we do not know how to tame our tongue.

What the Bible Says about Wisdom

Let's check from the New King James Version (NKJV) Bible:

Psalms 111:10 The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom;
A good understanding have all those who do His commandments.
His praise endures forever.

Proverbs 1:7 The fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge,
But fools despise wisdom and instruction.

Proverbs 9:10 The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom,
And the knowledge of the Holy One is understanding.

Proverbs 15:33 The fear of the LORD is the instruction of wisdom,
And before honor is humility

Indeed, "The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom."

Be a Leader

Ships are safer in the harbour but they are not meant for that purpose.

Dare to dream - dare to try - dare to fail - dare to succeed.

Leadership is like moving a string, you cannot move it by pushing from behind; what you have to do is to get ahead and pull.

You never know what you can do till you try. If you want to be a success, display enough courage to welcome failures.

"The key is to let people laugh at you. It will challenge you to break existing limits." - Founder Of Creative Technologies

Angry? - Calm down to remain wise

Indeed, it is never easy to calm down at time. However, we mustn't forget "Anger is only one letter, and one second, away from Danger". There are people who knows your weakness would like to make you angry in front of a crowd. Thus, always bear in mind that "He who anger you, conquers you."

When the wise get angry, they lose their wisdom. We must never answer an angry word with an angry word. It's always the second remark that starts the trouble.

The best cure for anger is delay. There's plenty of time. While delaying, think of the consequences. They're always worse than the cause.

Set Your Goal

There's a story about a dog that bragged about his running speed. One day he chased a rabbit, but failed to catch him. The other dogs ridiculed him. He answered: But remember, the rabbit was running for his life. He had a motive. I was just running for fun. If you're just working for fun or wages you'll never try as hard as if you're working for a deeper, longer goal.

More people fail through lack of purpose than from all other causes combined.

The truest shortcut to success is to set a Goal.

Tortoise and the Rabbit Story

You heard the story about the tortoise and the rabbit. Did you get the point? Speed and slowness had nothing to do with it. The tortoise won because he had a goal and stuck with it. The rabbit lost because he scattered his energy all over the lot.

To be great, concentrate. Most people remain ordinary because they scatter their energies.

A winner may not be more ambitious than a loser, but he's ambitious longer. Genius usually starts great things; only labor and hard work finish them.

Elephant's mentality

Have you seen at the circus, huge elephants got tied to a tiny rod in the ground?

Well, when the elephants are still young, they get tied up with a very huge rope. All day long, the elephants tried to get rid of it. But they can't. Finally, the elephants give up. From that moment on, they strongly believe that there is absolutely no chance to get rid of the rope. They accepted the fact that the rope limits them. That's why, they can be tied with extremely small ropes in the circus!

Likewise, we could also have many limiting beliefs, which comes from legacies, other people's opinions or even our own fears. These causes us not able:

  • to live our lives to the fullest
  • to be successful as we could be
  • to set and reach higher goals
  • to fulfill our true dreams and desires, etc.
We can change our inner belief system, our attitude, and break our inner boundaries. We always have the inner strength; the personal power to change everything in your life for the better. We just need to find out how!

Learn like Children

Children are naturally curious. They believe parents and teachers know a lot about the world. Asking questions and listening to answers are vital to their learning. You know children are growing up when they start asking questions that have answers.

Children require guidance and sympathy far more than instruction - Annie Sullivan.

You can learn many things from children. How much patience you have, for instance - Franklin P. Jones

If we ask a better question, we will come up with a better answer and therefore, a better result - What do you think?

Who is the wise man?

A wise man is one who learns from all men. Learning only from our own experience is like learning the traffic rules by accident.

Wise men know not many things, but useful things. We don't need to know many things to succeed, if we know the few things that are important.

Smart men start where others leave off. From others they learn to correct and often avoid their own mistakes. It takes a smart man to recognize a wise man and a smarter one to learn from him.

Seek Wisdom

People don't become successful by chance. There are powerful beliefs that are the foundation of a person's success. Thus, we need to find out!

We know and yet we don't do something about it.
Most of us possess similiar kind of bad attitudes. We are lazy, seek pleasure, want easy way out and want short-cut.

Well, till we know what's most important thing in life that we want, we will still just hoping and waiting.

So much to learn

The more I think I had learnt the more I know I still have to learn. Everyday when we face problems, we are actually learning. How we tackle problems determine whether we are acquiring Wisdom or getting more stress that kills.
