Live a balanced life

Nowadays, in our lives, we are taking on so many roles that we ought to constantly remind ourselves to do our best to find the right balance. As for me, I am a Husband, Father, Son, Manager, Employee, Friend, Christian, Preacher, Blogger and the list can just go on.

"People with great gifts are easy to find, but symmetrical and balanced ones never." - Ralph Waldo Emerson

"At times, it is difficult to keep a proper balance in our lives. But, over time, an improper balance will lead to problems." - Catherine Pulsifer

“Just as your car runs more smoothly and requires less energy to go faster and farther when the wheels are in perfect alignment, you perform better when your thoughts, feelings, emotions, goals, and values are in balance.” - Brian Tracy

“Wisdom is your perspective on life, your sense of balance, your understanding of how the various parts and principles apply and relate to each other. It embraces judgment, discernment, comprehension. It is a gestalt or oneness, and integrated wholeness.” - Stephen R. Covey

"In fact, everyone should take time out once in a while to recharge and revitalize their energy. The key is to have a balanced life." - Michael Lee, CPA

"Happiness is not a matter of intensity but of balance and order and rhythm and harmony." - Thomas Merton

Bill Gates says "In my 20s, I worked very, very hard. I have a much more balanced life now."

Check out: The Interactive Wheel of Life - maybe it can help you to find and map your life balance.

Well, what is your balance? Is it family, work and service?

The Power of Concentration

“One reason so few of us achieve what we truly want is that we never direct our focus; we never concentrate our power. Most people dabble their way through life, never deciding to master anything in particular.” - Anthony Robbins

"The ability to focus on one thing single-mindedly and see it through until it’s done takes more character than anything else." - Brian Tracy

“The ability to concentrate and to use your time well is everything” - Lee Iacocca

“Concentrate all your thoughts upon the work at hand. The sun's rays do not burn until brought to a focus.” - Alexander Graham Bell

As the gardener prunes the tree to draw the sap into one or two branches, so must we concentrate on one or two to avoid scattering our talents.

The strong by scattering their energies, accomplish nothing. The weak, by concentrating on one thing, build big business.

“It seems essential, in relationships and all tasks, that we concentrate only on what is most significant and important.” - Soren Kierkegaard

An exercise in concentration: Once a week, ask yourself: "Is this thing I'm doing right now helping me reach my chief goal?" If it isn't, change it.

Set Your Priorities Carefully

"Most people fail in life because they major in minor things." - Anthony Robbins

“What comes first, the compass or the clock? Before one can truly manage time (the clock), it is important to know where you are going, what your priorities and goals are, in which direction you are headed (the compass). Where you are headed is more important than how fast you are going. Rather than always focusing on what's urgent, learn to focus on what is really important.”

“Set priorities for your goals. A major part of successful living lies in the ability to put first things first. Indeed, the reason most major goals are not achieved is that we spend our time doing second things first.”

Action expresses priorities.” - Mahatma Gandhi

“The key is not to prioritize what's on your schedule, but to schedule your priorities.” - Stephen R. Covey

What is your greatest loss?

When Wealth is lost, nothing is lost;
When Health is lost, something is lost;
When Character is lost, all is lost!

We all value things differently. So what is the most precious thing in life you value most? Is it Wealth, Health, Relationship or Career? Well, why don't you spend some time and find out for yourself. Then do something about it!

The Bible tell us the greatest loss in Matthew 16:25-26 "For whoever desires to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for My sake will find it. For what profit is it to a man if he gains the whole world, and loses his own soul? Or what will a man give in exchange for his soul?"

Raise your standards

"All personal breakthroughs begin with a change in beliefs." - Anthony Robbins

“People seldom improve when they have no other model but themselves to copy after” - Oliver Goldsmith

"If you want to be successful, find someone who has achieved the results you want and copy what they do and you'll achieve the same results." - Anthony Robbins

“Any time you sincerely want to make a change, the first thing you must do is to raise your standards. When people ask me what really changed my life eight years ago, I tell them that absolutely the most important thing was changing what I demanded of myself. I wrote down all the things I would no longer accept in my life, all the things I would no longer tolerate, and all the things that I aspired to becoming.” - Anthony Robbins

Decisions will change your life

“Be willing to make decisions. That's the most important quality in a good leader.” - General George S. Patton

Napoleon wrote: "The most difficult of all tasks, and hence the most rewarding, is the POWER TO DECIDE. It takes little power to do big things. But it takes great power to decide on big things. And deciding on a goal is a BIG thing. It affects us all our lives."

“It's not hard to make decisions when you know what your values are.”

"A real decision is measured by the fact that you've taken a new action. If there's no action, you haven't truly decided." - Anthony Robbins

A Good Ending

Great beginnings are not as important as the way one finishes.

Better is the end of a thing than its beginning.

Home-made degree D.I.N.

That home-made degree D.I.N. (do it now) has turned more little shots into big shots than any college degree. And that self-made habit, P.T.O. (putting things off) holds more people back than sickness, lack of brains, lack of capital and opportunities combined.

Do important jobs now before they become urgent.

A good slogan: Learn how and do now.

Quality Wins

Wise men know not many things, but useful things. You don't need to know many things to succeed, and get rich, if you know the few things that are important.

Keen observation is a quality of all men wise. The ultimate sin of the mind is the failure to pay attention. Wise men always observe aspects others miss.

Remember to Smile Always

Of all the things we wear, a smile and good humor are most important. Without them, we are not properly dressed.

A smile is an inexpensive way to improve your looks.

We do not smile because we are happy, we are happy because we smile. Most smiles are started by other smiles. Smile first.

It's easy enough to be pleasant, when life flows along like a song, but the man worthwhile is the man with a smile, when everything goes dead wrong.

Working Attitude

The richest reward from our work is not what we get out of it in wages, but what we become through it.

At the start of our career, what we learn is more important than what we earn. The best preparation for tomorrow is to do today's work supremely well.

One overlooked success technique: doing things in the order of their importance.

Who is the wise man?

A wise man is one who learns from all men. Learning only from our own experience is like learning the traffic rules by accident.

Wise men know not many things, but useful things. We don't need to know many things to succeed, if we know the few things that are important.

Smart men start where others leave off. From others they learn to correct and often avoid their own mistakes. It takes a smart man to recognize a wise man and a smarter one to learn from him.

Seek Wisdom

People don't become successful by chance. There are powerful beliefs that are the foundation of a person's success. Thus, we need to find out!

We know and yet we don't do something about it.
Most of us possess similiar kind of bad attitudes. We are lazy, seek pleasure, want easy way out and want short-cut.

Well, till we know what's most important thing in life that we want, we will still just hoping and waiting.
